Mean Green Racing History

 

Mean Green Racing entered its first competition in 2013 with outstanding results. The first Formula SAE team for UNT completed every event at the competition in Lincoln, NE; almost unheard of for a first-year team. UNT was able to place 31st overall out of a total of 80 teams. For the 2014 season, MGR continued to assert itself by ranking 27th overall. After a hiccup in 2015, the team rallied back in 2016 and built a great car that placed 33rd. In 2017 the team had its best results to date by placing 13th overall.

In 2019, the team decided to improve upon 2018 and have more of an evolution rather than a revolution. At the SAE Lincoln competition, even with the problems that arose, '19 was a powerhouse of a car scoring 9th fastest overall in Endurance. After the dynamic and static event scores were tallied, the 2019 car placed 45th out of 80 registered teams.

In 2022, the team was affected by covid-19 hard where majority of the members that were on the team during covid-19 either left or graduated. The team decided to focus on teaching new members about how the car works and how to design a car. In competition, MGR scored 29th out of 48 IC cars, and 38th out of 111 total teams.
